Right, I've been messing with map.inis lately and have been able to implement a random starting unit feature for Zero Hour. As a quick explanation I have organised the modifications according to side, when you want to change the random units for a side first find the specific side then go to the...

*Side Name Here*VehicleRandom

...object, and then look for the 'BuildVariations =' attribute, add or remove the list of random units to your preference, for people who aren't experienced in coding, fire up World Builder and use the unit names from there, the units must be vehicles.

Copy the code after the line into notepad/wordpad, then save as 'map.ini' in your map's directory. (Do not copy the line)

Its generally a copy and edit situation, anyway, no need for anyone to understand it, just copy the code into notepad, and save it as map.ini in your map folder.
